End Transit Racism!
Bus Riders Union organizers know from our experiences that transit-dependent people are disproportionately people of colour and Aboriginal people, who are also the majority of bus riders on many routes.
We need public transit to access jobs, go to school, visit our families, attend cultural events, visit our places of worship and participate in our communities. Because of systemic racism in employment, immigration, and education, people of colour have a greater need for public transit.
TransLink attacks the right of working class communities of colour when they do not prioritize spending money to make the bus system more accessible, reliable, and affordable. This is transit racism.
